Organizing the Hearth: Taming the Tea Cabinet

Updated: Apr 28

Lately, I’ve been on a bit of an organizing… spring cleaning… nesting kick. When life starts feeling a little too full and a little too out of control, I’ve learned something about myself — I don’t spiral… I sort.

And sometimes, I throw things away with a little more enthusiasm than necessary.

This time, it was the tea.

Because let me tell you, we drink a lot of tea in this house. Hot tea, iced tea, sun tea, “whatever’s in reach” tea, if it can be steeped, we’ve probably tried it.

But somewhere along the way, our tea collection turned into a bit of a scavenger hunt. Boxes stacked on boxes, flavors hiding behind flavors… and somehow never the one you’re actually looking for.

So I decided it was time to bring a little order back to the chaos.

I found these adorable floral storage boxes at Dollar General (buy one, get one 50% off, you know I couldn’t pass that up), and they felt like exactly the right mix of practical and pretty.

A Place for Everything (Even the Teas You Forgot You Had)

Everything now has a home.

Loose tea bags, boxed teas, even those random handfuls of singles that seem to multiply on their own — all tucked neatly into their own space. I can finally see what we have, which means we’ll actually use it.

And the best part? These boxes stack neatly on the top pantry shelf, freeing up the lower shelves for everyday items we reach for more often.

Finding Magic in the Everyday

There’s something deeply satisfying about taking a small corner of chaos and turning it into something calm and usable.

Not perfect. Just… better.

Because sometimes “magic” isn’t candles and rituals.

Sometimes it’s opening your pantry, finding exactly the tea you wanted, and having a quiet moment to yourself while it steeps.

And right now… that feels like more than enough.

From my hearth to yours, just remember, a home doesn’t have to be perfect to hold peace. Sometimes all it takes is one small corner, tended with care.
